Frequently
Asked Questions

How do I start in-person or low fee counselling?

Contact us here either by email or call 07553 960524 for a free (up to) 30 minute 'Initial consultation'.  During the consultation we will discuss how you’re feeling and what you want to address. You can then decide if you feel comfortable enough to book sessions going forward.

What are your fees for in-person or low fee counselling?

Fees for in-person counselling are £45.00 for a 1 hour session (paid at least 24 hours in advance)

Fees for low fee online counselling are £25.00 for a 1 hour session (paid at least 24 hours in advance)

Payments are made via bank transfer only.

I have never had counselling therapy before, can you tell me what to expect?

The experience of counselling therapy will be different for everyone and can vary considerably from session to session as it will depend upon what you wish to explore.  However, if you have any questions that you feel you wish to ask before meeting for the first time please do contact us.

How long will the therapy last?

This is difficult to predict and can vary considerably. During the introduction session we can create a verbal contract where the length of time you wish to invest in the therapeutic process can be discussed or we can leave the number of sessions open. For the low fee online counselling, we normally advise a total of around 15 sessions.

How often do I need to have the therapy?

We would suggest that weekly therapy is preferable as it allows for the process to be integrated into your routine and with that growth and awareness is more likely to develop. If weekly is not an option for you, we can see clients once every two weeks, but no less than that, in order to ensure the process and frequency remain consistent. For the low fee online counselling, we normally advise weekly sessions.

Is what I tell you confidential?

Everything you share in sessions is completely confidential and we will not disclose it to anyone unless we have strong reason to believe that you are engaging in significant unlawful situations; at which point we are legally obliged to break confidentiality.

What if I don't know where to begin and what to address in therapy?

We do know that starting therapy can feel overwhelming and there may be a number of thoughts and feelings you want to share and discuss, this is very natural. Part of the therapy process if you wish, is working together to decide what feels important to discuss right at this moment. As therapy continues, other areas of your life may want to be prioritised as self-knowledge and awareness develops.

My child needs to see a counsellor, can you help?

Yes we can. We are fully experienced in in-person counselling for young people from the ages of 6 and upwards.

The counselling can take place at the child’s school in a designated room or in the Libra Counselling therapy room.

Payment and Cancellation

Unless other arrangements have been agreed, it is expected that you will pay for each session via bank transfer at least 24 hours before the session starts. If you need to cancel, we must be notified with at least 24 hours notice where possible. If you cancel within 24 hours of your session, you will need to pay for that missed session. We will reschedule the missed session to a suitable day within the next 7 days. If you still can not attend that session, then payment for the missed session will be forfeit. In the event that we are unable to attend the session through cancellation/sickness within the 24 hours, a refund will be processed or the monies will carry over to the following session or extended past agreed end date.
